Life on this organic farm, nestled in the heart of the beautiful, rolling hills of Corrèze, is a true return to the sources of agriculture and the art of living. With 10 dairy cows and 20 Limousin cattle, the current owners lead an autonomous life on 50 hectares of owned land and 60 hectares of leased land. Barn with gîte and workshop In the hamlet stands the solid stone barn, with a gîte on the ground floor. This offers nearly 90 m² of living space and includes a living area with a kitchen, sturdy wooden beams, stone walls, and a wood stove. There are two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower and sink, and a separate toilet. In front of the property is a wild garden where the septic tank is installed. The farm The professional cheese-making workshop is located on the upper level of the barn. It is where the milk from the 10 dairy cows is transformed daily into raw milk cheese and fromage blanc. The jars are stored in a cold room to be sold twice a week at local markets. The cows graze outdoors year-round but can take shelter in the shed behind the stone barn. Additional income comes from selling cattle and heifers, as well as subsidies. The hay and machines are stored in a simple plastic tunnel. It is rarely necessary to go to the supermarket. On this farm you can live almost self-sufficiently. There are various fruit trees, a large vegetable garden, chickens, pigs, and cows for eggs, meat, and milk. The gîte and the main house are both wood-heated from the farms own wood (about 12 hectares). Off-grid wooden house The wooden house, with a living area of about 130 m², is accessible via a path across the fields. It is entirely self-contained, without connection to public networks. Electricity is produced by solar panels. A 12-volt circuit has been installed to use electricity as efficiently as possible. Hot water (from a spring) is produced in summer by two solar panels and in winter by the wood stove. In the center of the house is a large brick wood stove, the thick wooden walls and well-insulated roof keep the house very comfortable during the cold months. On the ground floor is the living area with a kitchenette and a bathroom equipped with a shower and dry toilets. The first floor has not yet been developed. There is currently a large space that could be divided into bedrooms and a room that serves as a double bedroom. If you want to live off-grid and run an organic farm, this is the opportunity of a lifetime. Thanks to the dairy and European subsidies, you can generate a good income, especially as a young farmer (up to 40 years old).
