In the Landes, 20 minutes from Mont-de-Marsan, a vast capcazalière house from Chalosse, registered as a historic monument. Built circa 1600, the property offers a living area of about 500 m² spread over two levels, combining elegance and sturdiness, on a plot of about 5,000 m². The house is organized around three courtyards, each sunny or shaded in turn. Its tall façade, characteristic of Chalossian residences, impresses with its geometric rigor, almost severe, but softened by a Renaissance-moulded doorway. Inside, a wooden staircase, a finely carved stone fireplace, and Louis XIV-style wall panels in a dining room have been preserved, as have gascon floors and numerous terra-cotta tiles. During the revolutionary troubles, the residence housed a secret cache intended for refractory priests, whose discreet access still exists today.
