Mondim de Basto is a Portuguese village located in the sub-region of Ave, belonging to the North region and the district of Vila Real. It is the seat of the municipality of Mondim de Basto that has a total area of 172.08 ksqm,6,410 inhabitants in 2021 and a population density of 37 inhabitants per ksqm, subdivided into 6 parishes. The municipality is bounded to the northeast by Ribeira de Pena, to the southeast by Vila Real, to the southwest by Amarante, to the west by Celorico de Basto and to the northwest by Cabeceiras de Basto. The main church, completely modified, has a Gothic side portal from the primitive trace. The body of the nave is covered by a coffered ceiling (a total of 75 frames). The main altar frames a sumptuous gilded altarpiece of the eighteenth century. Some silver pieces, a turíbulo and a naveta, from workshops in Porto, enhance the set of its jewellery. The Chapel of the Lord is a beautiful small granite temple, with a Romanesque structure and Baroque decoration. The wooden ceiling is squared and painted. The frames of the coffins are of great relief.
